It's baseball season in DR! The Fall-Winter Dominican Baseball League starts every year in late October and extends thru January when the Championship series takes place. The 2011-12 season is dedicated in the memory of Reynaldo (Pappy) Bisono.

Juan Pablo Duarte On January 26th, the Dominican Republic commemorates the birthday of the Founding Father of the Dominican land: Juan Pablo Duarte. Juan Pablo Duarte & Diez was born in the colonial zone of Santo Domingo on 1813. He is the son of Manuela Diez (originally from El Seibo) and a Spanish father Juan Jose Duarte.  
Did you know? 85% of the North West Atlantic humpback whales are born in Dominican Republic’s waters. The Humpback whales return every year to Dominican waters to breed and give birth. Visiting the whale sanctuary in the Samana Bay and the Silver Bank in the North East of the country is one the most beautiful excursions to enjoy while visiting the Dominican Republic. Around 3,000 Humpback whales visit every year from January to March delighting visitors and spectators in the Samana Bay area.
