Boca Chica is about 30 minutes East from Santo Domingo after Las Americas International Airport.
About Boca Chica:
Its tourism development began in the 1950s, when dictator Rafael Trujillo ordered the construction of a modern hotel to be named "Hotel Hamaca" which became an icon of the region. In Boca Chica, during the 1950s and 1960s many prominent families in the country built beach houses along the coast and in the village of Boca Chica. Later, in the late 1960s and early 1970’s, this beach became very popular and well attended by both locals and international tourists.
Boca Chica beach is the closest to Santo Domingo city surrounded by a large coral reef with beautiful turquoise blue warm water and is considered the largest natural pool in the Antilles. There you can enjoy the adventure of riding Jet Ski, banana boat, scuba diving, among other sports and take pleasure in some of the excellent restaurants located on the beachside.
This beach is visited by locals and foreign tourists, especially on weekends and holidays. If you have the chance to visit on a weekday, you can enjoy it more quietly.Boca Chica beach has a natural breakwater and a source of fresh water that comes from the underground river Brujuelas.

If you are visiting Boca Chica, take the opportunity to visit La Caleta National Park which is very close to the area.

Besides the enjoyment of the beach, the town itself is inviting for walking and exploring the national arts and crafts that are sold in the area. Walk around and see it yourself!
