Location:
This province is located in the east of the country, bordered on the north by the province of El Seibo, on the east by the province of La Altagracia, on the south by the Caribbean Sea and west of the province San Pedro de Macoris.

By Air: The nearest airport is in the same province, the International Airport La Romana (LRM). Second nearest airport is the Las Americas International Airport (SDQ) to Santo Domingo.

By car: Direct access through “Autovia del Este” Highway from Santo Domingo. The trip takes about two hours and La Romana is about 100 kilometers away of the city of Santo Domingo
Attractions:
Altos de Chavon:
This town is 5 kilometers from the city of La Romana. The town of Altos de Chavon was built in 1976 and is located within the Casa de Campo resort. It is said to be an imitation of a Spanish or Italian Mediterranean village of houses built in limestone.
In Chavón you can find Chavon artists, fashion designers, bars and restaurants and an amphitheater built in rocks that was inaugurated in 1982 with Frank Sinatra and has been a meeting place for concerts by national artists and famous international artists. 
Bayahibe Beach:

This beach is located 20 minutes from the town of La Romana and to the East of Altos de Chavon. The beach has little public access area for swimming on the beach because it is also one of the beaches of the resorts in the area. From Bayahibe beach sail boats and catamarans to Saona Island and Catalina Island. Bayahibe is also an area where you can get many souvenirs of the Dominican Republic.
Dominicus Beach: This is another popular beach in the area where there are some resorts.
Saona Island is a small island adjacent to the province of La Romana, located 45 minutes from the lakeside beach of Bayahibe. Saona Island is part of Eastern National Park and covers an area of 115 kilometers. The island is larger in area than the Catalina Island and is the preferred location for many day trips on a beach of clear water. On the way to the island, you can stop at the natural pool that is in the area. Once reached the island, you can choose to book a guided tour inside the park.
Catalina Island:
This island is just 9.6 square kilometers in size and is 45 minutes boat ride from Bayahibe. Catalina Island receives many visitors who will appreciate the marine life and the number of resident birds in the area. Many made the journey through a guided tour catamaran where you can spend all day on this uninhabited island, with music and food available by the organizers of the tour. In Catalina Island you can do snorkeling and other water sports.
