I will be visiting Santo Domingo for business and would like to go somewhere nearby to enjoy the beach for the day. Where should I go? Santo Domingo is a lucky city with the nearest beach just 30 minutes away. Just a quick drive away without hectic traffic can get you to Boca Chica, Guayacanes and Juan Dolio. These three Eastern Region beaches are easily accessible for public use.
Which airport should I choose if I’m going to Punta Cana/ Bavaro area? Dominican Republic has several international airports close to the major destination for tourism and business purposes. If you are travelling and planning to stay in the Punta Cana and Bavaro area in the East Coast of the country, the best choice would be the Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ).
Can I rent a car at my arrival at the airport? Yes, you can rent a car when you arrive to any of the airports in Dominican Republic. Several major car rental companies have booths available for travelers arriving into the country that had made reservations prior arrival or decide to rent a car at the last minute. If you are interested on renting a car in Dominican Republic, check with your preferred car rental company for rates and other locations throughout the country.
Can I bring fruits or live animals to the D.R.? The Dominican Republic has very stricts laws that prohibit the entrance to the country of some fuits and live animals, for example: Apples, Peaches, Grapes, Avocado, among others. Do I need a Visa to enter the D.R.? The Dominican Republic has very stricts imigration laws that prohibit the entrance to the country of some residents of foreign country without a visa, however there are several countries that the D.R. allow thier citizens to enter only by filling out a tourist card, for a complete list of this countries visit:

When does the rainy season starts in the D.R.? The Dominican Republic has a primarily tropical climate and it is common the abundance of rainfall, rainy seasons may vary but it usually starts in November and last thru January for the northern coast, in the rest of the country it runs from May through November and May is the wettest month. But don't worry the sun still shine no matter what all year long!
Which is the minimum Drinking age in the D.R.? The Dominican Republic has very stricts law concerning minors drinking. The minumim age to have a drink or enter a bar is 18 years old. But notice some places requiere a minumum of 21 years old to serve a drink.
How much money can I bring into the D.R.? The Dominican Republic has very stricts law in order to prevent money laundering, being so there is a limt of US$ 10,000.00 per person in cash or traveler's cheks. If you are bringing with you a sum of money larger than that you need to fill up a declaration and explain the reasons for doing so.
Will Dominican Stores accept US Dollars or Euros? Basically all shops in the Dominican Republic give the customer the option to pay the bill in different currency. Including restaurants, gift shops, casinos and convinience stores. Just make sure to verify the exchange rate before you pay.
Do I need any vaccines to travel to the D.R.? NO. There is no requirement of the goverment to have any vaccination before you travel to the country also there is no risk of getting any disease. As usual you will only have to watch out for foods and drinks and be sure to get them from a healthy source.
Can I use public transportation to move around the D.R.? Public Transportation is not the best way to move around in the country, even for locals it is a bit uncomfortable and is not a smooth ride. The best way to doit is using private taxi service, that will get you anywhere and is ralative low cost.
What documents do I need to rent a car in the D.R.? To rent a vehicle in the Dominican Republic you will only need to have a valid driver license and your passport. Remember that the minimun age for driving in the D.R. is 18 years old.
How easy is to access a Internet connection in the D.R.? Internet connection in the Dominican Republic is very easy to find. You can get a Wi-Fi signal almost everywhere. Hotels, resorts, restaurants and department stores have access to the internet.
