Beaches

It is an indisputable fact that the Dominican Republic has many beautiful beaches in different parts of the island, either by the Caribbean Sea or the Atlantic Ocean often visited by locals and tourists.

 

The beach that you want to choose depends on your tastes and what you want to do during your stay. The beaches can be enjoyed for fun, or just enjoy the beach in the quiet of an apartment, rented house or enjoy the exclusiveness of an all inclusive hotel. It is good to remember that in one visit to the country can explore various beaches in the same region.

 

North Region

 

The north coast beaches are bordered by the Atlantic Ocean over 125 miles of beautiful beaches. In the north, you can find beaches with public access as well as private access in hotels and resorts. The northern beaches have golden sand and surrounded by palm vegetation. The North region is ideal for water sports like windsurfing and more.

 

The most visited beaches are: Playa de Puerto Plata, Sosua, Cabarete, Rio San Juan, Playa Punta Rusia and El Morro in Monte Cristi.

 

East Region

 

The eastern region is very pretty and starts in the Southeast starting on the beach near the city of Santo Domingo called Boca Chica following the town of San Pedro de Macoris to the beaches of Juan Dolio and Guayacanes, both with access to public and private. By following the trail, you reach the town of La Romana which has beaches in Bayahibe, Dominicus, and the islands of Catalina and Saona. These islands are a paradise of white sand with beautiful vegetation.

 

Last but not least to the province of Higuey where you'll find beautiful beaches of crystalline water in the area of Bavaro and Punta Cana Here are concentrated the greatest all-inclusive resorts in the country for adults, teens and children.

 

In the northeast lies the Bay of Samana and areas like Las Galeras, Playa Rincon, Las Terrenas and the island of Cayo Levantado. This area also has all-inclusive hotels as homes or condos for rent in private.The East is famous for diving and snorkeling around the beautiful coral that can be seen in its waters.

 


South Region

 

The beaches of the South are also more white sand and dark and rustic. Also the beaches are characterized by the beauty of the mountains surrounding the area, the landscape is often dry, desert climate. Areas with access to beaches are: Bani, Barahona, Pedernales. Some of the beaches in the area are not open to bathers by the number of waves that can cause a visitor to drown.

 

The beaches that have not been touched by human hands, without access famous hotel are: Bahia de las Aguilas and Cabo Rojo in the province of Pedernales. Other beaches are: Salinas and Palma de Ocoa which are suitable for windsurfing.
