Ecotourism

The ecotourism potential of the Dominican Republic is widespread despite being such a small island. The Dominican Republic has been an excellent destination to enjoy the exquisite beaches and resorts that the country offers, but often is forgotten or not known that the country has an immense ecotourism potential.

The Dominican Republic has more than 20 National Parks and 6 protected areas both flora, fauna and marine life, 9 scenic views, natural recreation areas, 15 forest nature reserves, 19 natural monuments, 13 areas of management of habitat / species and Wildlife refuges, among others.

The attractions of the island suit for fans of extreme sports, hiking, trekking, diving and even photography lovers could find wonderful places to be able to undertake photographic safaris. If you travel in the months of January through March, you might even enjoy the views of the Sanctuary of Humpback whales that visit each year in the waters of Samana in the northeast of the island.

Traveling throughout the Dominican territory gives tourists the opportunity to learn beyond what the country can offer besides the all-inclusive resorts. By doing ecotourism would have the opportunity to appreciate the forest and desert landscapes, educate yourself on the biodiversity of flora and fauna throughout the Dominican Republic and get in touch with local cultures in each village or area you visit.
